ELKO, Nev. (KOLO) - A miner was killed in what officials are calling an incident at a mine in Eureka County.

Nevada Gold Mines confirmed to KOLO 8 News Now that Jeremy Smokey died from injuries sustained at the Goldrush Underground mine Tuesday afternoon.

No details about the incident were immediately released.

A spokesperson with the company said their focus will now shift to supporting those impacted.

The Mine Safety and Health Administration and the company’s Emergency Response Team are now on site investigating.

No other injuries were reported due to this incident.

Operations at the mine have been suspended until further notice.
