As Spirit Airlines navigates its second bankruptcy filing in less than a year, its reshuffled flight schedule is both good and bad news for Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe, which relies on Spirit as its only carrier.
Arnold Palmer Regional is losing its twice-weekly service to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — one of its two nonstop flight destinations — on Oct. 30, according to the airport’s executive director, Gabe Monzo.
But beginning Nov. 1, Spirit will expand its slate of direct flights from Arnold Palmer to its remaining nonstop destination, Orlando, Fla., from four days per week to six, he said.
The service will typically operate every day of the week except Tuesday, aside from a flight scheduled on Tuesday, Nov. 25 during Thanksgiving week.
