CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The woman accused of shooting and killing her adult daughter appeared in court on Wednesday, October 1.

Cacey Bright had a counsel status hearing on Wednesday morning.

According to online court records, during the hearing, she asked for more time to hire counsel.

The hearing was continued to November 5.

Bright, 59, was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

She’s accused of shooting her 21-year-old daughter in the head on Kenwood Drive on Sunday night, May 11.

Her charges were upgraded after her daughter died from her injuries on Wednesday, May 14.
