According to a media release from the OPP, the victims, aged 54 and 78, were traveling in a car that collided with a pickup truck. Both women were transported to a local hospital but were pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The driver of the pickup truck, who was the sole occupant, did not sustain any injuries, the OPP stated. The collision prompted a temporary closure of Highway 17 in both directions, affecting traffic from Chenaux Road to Bruce Street in Renfrew. Authorities are seeking information from the public.
