SILVER BAY, Minn. — Al Nelson says he's used the same lottery numbers for 13 years.

A combination of family birthdates and jersey numbers, Nelson has stuck with the same digits for every drawing. On Saturday, his tenacity paid off.

Nelson won the North 5 jackpot worth $156,563 after stopping by Silver Bay Municipal Liquor & Lounge on Outer Drive on Saturday on his way to Wisconsin.

"I can't believe it," said the Silver Bay resident in a press release from the Minnesota Lottery.

The winning numbers were 3-4-13-17-24.

"The whole bar was cheering him on," said Kat, the liquor store's general manager. "We're so happy for him."

Silver Bay Municipal Liquor & Lounge will also receive $1,000 for selling the winning ticket.
