BOSTON —

Red Sox fans are hoping the team can close out the wild card series Wednesday night over the New York Yankees.

The Sox won a thrilling game Tuesday, with pitcher Garrett Crochet leading the way in his postseason debut.

Crochet struck out 11 over 7 2/3 innings, at one point retiring 17 straight batters. After some clutch hitting late in the game, Aroldis Chapman worked his way out of a bases-loaded, no-outs jam in the 9th to beat the Yankees, 3-1.

The win puts the Sox in good position to win the three-game series, and many fans in Boston said they think the team can do that Wednesday night.
