BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Husson University’s student-operated radio station continued a tradition on Wednesday to help their community.

For 15 years, WHSN has partnered with the Red Cross for blood drives in the fall and spring.

Over the years, more than 800 units of blood have been donated with about a fourth of all donations being from first time donors.

WHSN Station Manager Mark Nason says getting the experience of donating in college may lead to a lifetime of donating.

“They might donate when they’re a freshman. They know that every semester there’s going to be another opportunity within steps of their dorm room that they can become these lifelong donors. And then they take that great habit with them after they graduate,” said Nason.
