A new three-year partnership between the University of Waterloo and Google aims to help shape how generative AI is used in learning and work.

“I want research and education to have something meaningful to give back to the world,” said Edith Law, who leads the Augmented Intelligence Lab at the school of computer science and will be the first Google Research Chair on the future of learning and work.

The PhD in machine learning says people and generative AI can learn from and support each other. She was one of the speakers Wednesday at the announcement of a $1-million three-year partnership between Google and the university’s new Institute for the Future of Work and Learning.
