Police found Dylon Moreira in the basement of his mother’s house lying on top of his bloodied, unresponsive girlfriend, his Kitchener murder trial was told.
Vanessa Legate was on her back, testified Det. Matthew Boniface of Waterloo Regional Police.
“It appeared that he was holding onto her … almost clenching onto her,” he told Crown prosecutor Jonathan Janke earlier this week.
“We had a very difficult time removing his grasp from the female. He wouldn’t let go.”
Legate, 41, had no vital signs. She was pronounced dead in hospital.
