The family of an unarmed 28-year-old man shot and killed by a State Police trooper along the Garden State Parkway five years ago has settled for $375,000, according to a court document.
The estate of Maurice Gordon Jr. will receive $143,680.65 while the family lawyers will get the rest of the settlement.
The Wagstaff Firm is to receive $125,000 for legal fees and $106,319.35 for ‘costs, experts, and expenses, according to a copy of the settlement.
Gordon’s family sued Wetzel and the state, alleging the shooting was racially biased. Gordon Jr. was Black.
