WASHINGTON (WBAY) - The federal government shut down Tuesday night for the first time in seven years as lawmakers are at an impasse over competing congressional bills.
The Senate adjourned Wednesday afternoon with no resolution yet on how the government will reopen. Senators will return Friday to vote again on the measure.
Many of Action 2 News viewers are asking about a statement made by Congressman Tony Wied on Tuesday, about illegal aliens and healthcare as a main reason for Democrats not supporting a continuing resolution to fund the government, just prior to this shutdown.
