ST. ALBANS, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - More than 60 workers at a St. Albans creamery are on strike. They say they're demanding fair wages, safer working conditions and an end to forced overtime.
Members of Teamsters Local 597 say despite numerous attempts, they haven't reached an agreement with Dairy Farmers of America (DFA).
The St. Albans facility supplies milk and cream to the nearby Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory. The union warns that a continued work stoppage could impact production and supply nationwide.
The president of the local union, Curtis Clough say union members "want safety on the job, wages that match those of DFA employees at other locations, and a fair contract.
“These workers will remain on the picket line until DFA comes to the table in good faith.”
