JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - The Jones County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate an incident that happened Sunday.

Jason Blackledge, 47, is being charged with lustful touching involving a juvenile.

The department said Blackledge has been a registered sex offender since 1999.

Blackledge remains at the Jones County Jail after the department said he assaulted a girl under the age of 10 over the weekend.

JCSD Investigator Cody Pitts said Blackledge was doing handyman work for a family in the county.

“Mr. Blackledge has done some work for the family at their house prior,“ said Pitts. ”Mr. Blackledge was cleaning up the property.”

The department said Blackledge lured the child behind a shed while her parents were working on home repairs.
