NEWBURG -- People across the state are searching for answers after 250 Maine state election ballots were allegedly delivered to a Newburg woman in a private Amazon package.

Officials have released limited information and have not confirmed the validity of the allegations. Still, the Secretary of State's office has released the following statement: "We are aware of the serious allegations that packages of ballots were received by a private citizen. Law enforcement is investigating the matter."

We spoke with the Secretary of State late this afternoon, and she told us,"Safe and secure elections are my top priority. As soon as we became aware of these ballots being sent outside of the appropriate chain of custody, I immediately initiated an investigation through my secretary of state's law
