There will be something fishy happening in Fremantle this month — in a good way.

The port city’s annual Blessing of the Fleet, supported by the City of Fremantle, is scheduled to return this year on Sunday, October 26.

The Fremantle community, the rock lobster and fishing community and the Italian and Portuguese community have come together to celebrate this tradition since 1948.

It is a reminder of the religious traditions of the Italian people, especially those from Molfetta and Capo d’Orlando, and includes a procession through the streets that leads to the blessing of Fremantle’s fishermen and community.
