SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — For the first time in almost seven years, the federal government has shut down after both Republicans and Democrats were unable to come to an agreement.
This has resulted in many federally funded services shutting down until the end, but here in Sioux City, some services have been unaffected by it so far.
The last time the federal government shut down was on December 22, 2018, and it didn't end until January 25, 2019. That shutdown lasted 35 days.
"Right now, we are operating as business as usual. We do have some programs that operate on federal funding, but as of right now, the funding streams that we use have been unaffected," said Tyler Brock, with Siouxland District Health Department.
