QUINCY (WGEM) - “Guns are never the answer.”
Those are the words of Police Chief Adam Yates in an interview with WGEM News Wednesday morning following the arrest of 21-year-old Dyrece T. Knaff II, a man suspected of shooting two people near 8th and Lind Monday night.
“We have too many young people with guns in this community, and those young people with guns are willing to use them,” Yates said.
During an in-depth review of stories reported on by WGEM News, it was found that over 25 people in Adams County have faced firearm charges in the last three years. Over a dozen of those people were teenagers at the time of the incident. Those charges range from armed robbery, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and more. Eight people were between 20 and 25 at the time of the charges.
