LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Summit Township and Jackson Fire Departments are conducting an active shooter training exercise at Jackson College.
This is a part of a three-day series of training, in collaboration with other local law enforcement and first responders, to simulate a real-world emergency.
The trainings are in place to help first responders strengthen their emergency preparedness. And after the mass shooting at a church in Grand Blanc, emergency personnel said these trainings are more crucial than ever.
“We always say in the fire service it’s not if this thing happens, but it’s... when. So, we try to prepare all that we can,” said City of Jackson Firefighter Hunter Keith.
Keith participates in the training every year. And, says it’s extremely realistic to a real scenario.
