HAMPTON, Va. — History is now more accessible than ever at the Aberdeen Gardens Historic Museum in Hampton, thanks to a community effort, a grant, and a celebration of a rich local legacy.

On Wednesday, the museum, which preserves the story of one of the nation’s most important New Deal communities, marked the completion of a volunteer project to construct an ADA-compliant access ramp.

The event, named "Building Access Together," celebrated the partnership between the museum, the Aberdeen Gardens Historical Foundation, and external supporters, notably the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation, whose $5,000 grant made the ramp possible.

The new ramp ensures that visitors with mobility issues can now fully explore this vital piece of American and African American history.
