ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - A new community center in Rock Island hopes to begin serving people experiencing homelessness this week, but a citywide moratorium has put its future in question.

Third Place QC, located on 3rd Avenue, opened Wednesday. The nonprofit aims to provide resources, support services, and a safe space for those in need.

“Maybe you just need a safe place and someone to talk to? You can come in our doors and sit down and get a cup of coffee,” said Christie Adamson, the co-founder of the Third Place QC.

“We want to give people a location where, during the day, make you feel like you are apart of something.”

During the opening, Adamson received a letter from Rock Island City Manager Todd Thompson.
