ROCKFORD, Ill (WREX) — UW Health clinics in northern Illinois will begin administering COVID-19 vaccines to eligible patients and staff. This includes individuals ages six months and older, as well as pregnant patients.
Starting October 6, patients can schedule their COVID-19 vaccine appointments by contacting a UW Health clinic or through MyChart. No prescription is required.
Dr. Jim Conway, Medical Director of the UW Health Immunization Program, emphasized the importance of getting the latest influenza and COVID-19 vaccines. "By getting vaccinated, you decrease your chances of getting infected, or, if you do get infected, it’s more likely to be a milder case," Conway said. He noted that individuals 65 and older or those with high-risk factors should especially get vaccinated.
