RIDLEY TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Pennsylvania lawmakers have introduced " Abby's Law ," a bill aimed at improving electric scooter safety statewide following the death of 12-year-old Abigail Gillon.

Abby and her best friend, 11-year-old Bella Jones, were riding an electric scooter together on a busy road in Aston when they fell and were struck by a car. Abby died from her injuries, and Bella was seriously hurt.

State Sen. Tim Kearney, who represents Delaware County, introduced the legislation this week.

If signed into law, the bill would recognize e-scooters as regulated vehicles, with a 20-mile-per-hour speed limit while banning riders under the age of 16.
