The federal government shutdown will have a huge impact on Maryland, which has already been hit hard with federal job losses.

About 70,000 federal employees live in Prince George's County, where County Executive Aisha Braveboy acknowledged Wednesday the federal government shutdown will hit hard. But she showed support for Democratic leaders, who put the blame for the shutdown on President Donald Trump and the Republican Party.

“I have every confidence in the leadership in Washington that represents Prince George’s County and the state of Maryland that they are on the right side,” Braveboy said.

She appeared with the County Council Wednesday to remind residents of the resources available to them.
