ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The shutdown of the federal government entered its first official day on Wednesday, after Congressional lawmakers failed to reach a deal on spending before a midnight deadline.

Most Americans won’t notice any impacts right away. Social Security and Medicaid checks will still be issued, federal law enforcement will still be fully staffed and the U.S. Post Office will still run as normal.

But Americans on food assistance or job training programs could see interruptions, and down the road, staffing at TSA and in air traffic control towers could cause flight delays.
