SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A Savannah woman is breathing a sigh of relief after her mother’s headstone was finally repaired following multiple incidents of damage at Greenwich Cemetery, which is part of Bonaventure Cemetery.
Earlier this week, Felicia Shellman, reached out to WTOC about the ongoing issues with her mother’s gravesite. According to Shellman, the headstone had been damaged three times: once in 2022, again in 2024, and most recently just a few days ago.
While the cemetery made repairs after each incident, Shellman said staff told her the damage wasn’t their responsibility. She also said she contacted the city multiple times but never received a response.
On Wednesday, Shellman met with the cemetery’s maintenance supervisor, Jack Hobby, who apologized and assured her the matter
