EUGENE, Ore. - Gov. Tina Kotek said that no one should have to choose between food and rent. The recent changes in federal law are expected to impact older adults, immigrants, and rural communities the hardest throughout Oregon.

Catholic Community Services, a local assistance program, reports a rise in demand over the past year.

"Our numbers have gone up steadily over the past year, a lot of new people, so people who have never used our services, are coming in and signing up for food, and that their SNAP benefits have been cut, or will be cut," said Tami Kinman, the associate director of community service centers with Catholic Community Services.
