WAUNAKEE, Wis. (WKOW) -- Education leaders from Waunakee, Middleton-Cross Plains, and the Universities of Wisconsin helped high schoolers learn about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and encouraged them to apply.
FAFSA gets students access to grants, loans, and work-studies.
"We know that financial assistance is critical to helping some students make the decision to attend higher education and have the opportunity to change the trajectory of their lives," said Universities of Wisconsin President Jay Rothman.
The application is now live for the 2026-2027 school year. Students can visit studentaid.gov to start the process. As of Oct. 1, the website was still running but included a note to applicants that inquiries may not receive a response, due to the shutdown of th
