There are few things in life one can truly rely on. I am happy to report that, along with death and taxes, ZZ Top will always bring the spirit of the boogie to the stage, as the band proved last Wednesday with its show at the Palace Theatre in Albany.

That spirit was alive and well as “that little ol’ band from Texas” rolled through the Capital Region on its Elevation tour. The veteran blues-rock trio had the same lineup for 51 years, made up of Billy Gibbons (guitar, vocals), Frank Beard (drums) and Dusty Hill (bass, vocals), until 2021 when Hill died. He had already selected his replacement in Elwood Francis, the band's longtime guitar tech, and ZZ Top has continued on — seasoned like finely marinated brisket.
