GRAND CANYON (AZFamily) — The federal government shut down overnight , causing a partial closure of the Grand Canyon and causing more strain to businesses that are already hurting.

Towns like Tusayan, which rely heavily on Grand Canyon tourism, were hurting financially for most of the summer due to the Dragon Bravo Fire , and now with the shutdown, it could drive even more people away.

It was business as usual, almost, at the Grand Canyon . For a Wednesday in the fall, there were plenty of people, and shuttles were surprisingly full.

However, there was also a flow of people lining up outside the visitor center to read closure signs because of the federal government shutdown.
