BOSTON —
"Hopeful" was the message for fans at the bars on Lansdowne Street despite a disappointing Red Sox loss to the Yankees in Game 2 of the AL Wild Card series.
It was a back and forth affair for most of the game with the score tied until the bottom of the eighth, when New York's catcher, Austin Wells, hit an RBI single to right field for a 4-3 lead.
A lead which they would not relinquish, despite a long Ceddanne Rafaela fly out to end the game.
"It was a heart stopping moment there, I really thought we had it," one fan said.
Despite the disappointing result, fans are remaining optimistic heading into Thursday night's win-or-go-home game in the Bronx.
"The pressure is on the Yankees here," a Sox fan said.
