CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - The West Virginia Board of Education is saying goodbye to its longest-serving member on the current board.

On Wednesday, Debra Sullivan attended her final meeting before her retirement, after serving on the board since 2017.

Sullivan was appointed by former Gov. Jim Justice in 2017 and was known for her attention to detail and deep-rooted connection with students.

She often visited students in schools, as well as juvenile facilities where she would lead baking classes and engage in conversation with them.
