LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A Hardin County man was arrested on Wednesday after trying a social media trick that caused his baby to be hospitalized.
According to a Facebook post by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, officers were notified of a two-month-old taken to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville with three bilateral healing rib fractures.
Detectives coordinated with Child Protective Services and met with the child’s mother, who identified the baby’s father as a possible suspect.
Officers went to the home of suspect Austin Webster, where he told police and CPS that the baby had been experiencing gastrointestinal discomfort and bowel issues.
Webster then admitted to officers that he had attempted a technique he saw on social media, hoping that it would help the baby’s symptoms.
