GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Some eat to live. Some eat for fun. Some eat for glory. Contestants from Polish halls across Grand Rapids did all three on Wednesday night as Sixth Street Hall hosted the annual Pulaski Days kielbasa-eating contest.

"You're in a team of three, and between the three of you, you have to finish four hot dogs. So most people do, like, one person eats two. So yeah, you you can dip it in water. We see a lot of people like smooshing them, and it's crazy. It gets so intense. So, yeah, this is a really big night," said this year's Pulaski Queen Lauren Hansen.

The 10-round competition was fierce, too. Hundreds of people were in attendance. Most of them were wearing red shirts, either promoting their own halls or talking smack about another hall in town.
