HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii’s Dillon Gabriel has been named the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.

The rookie QB from Mililani got the news earlier this week and takes over for veteran QB Joe Flacco after the Browns’ 1-3 start to the 2025 NFL season.

Gabriel takes the helm as Cleveland faces the Minnesota Vikings in London.

In a press conference Wednesday, he discussed his new role and the importance of always being prepared.

“It’s a moment you prep for. I’m also extremely excited for, but also got to realize it’s extreme focus,” Gabriel said. “That’s what I’ve continued to harp on. If you wait for the perfect time, you’re gonna wait a whole lifetime, so for me I’ve always been ready for every moment.”

Kickoff for the Browns and Vikings is on Sunday, 3:30 a.m. Hawaii
