LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Alex Wimmers proudly lives in Lubbock, but he’s heading to Columbus, Ohio this weekend to enter The Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame.

Wimmers pitched for the Buckeyes from 2008-10, earning back-to-back Big 10 Pitcher of the Year Awards.

May 2nd, 2009, Wimmers threw a 9-inning no-hitter vs. Michigan.

So how did Wimmers end up in the Hub City? It’s thanks to a 2010 trip to Lubbock when he was named National Pitcher of the Year at the College Baseball Hall of Fame event. He ended up meeting his wife and they now proudly live here with their three children.

Alex’s Father-In-Law is Red Raider Favorite Gary Ashby.

Alex teaches baseball at Playmakers at 5614 126th street Unit D2 in Lubbock.

Lubbock is lucky to have Alex Wimmers living in The 806!
