HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The state of Hawaii is launching a multi-agency effort this month to stop the spread of invasive little fire ants (LFA).
Officials said October is “Stop the Ants Month” and encourage residents to collect and submit ants from their properties to help detect and control the spread of LFAs and other harmful pest ants.
The campaign is supported by the Hawaii Invasive Species Council (HISC) and administered by the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) in cooperation with the Hawaii Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity (HDAB), along with University of Hawaii programs, including the Hawaii Ant Lab, Coordinating Group on Alien Pest Species, and the Invasive Species Committees on each island.
