WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Two recent tragedies, including the heartbreaking loss of Sgt. Scott Heimann in Hays has brought the devastating impact of domestic violence into sharp focus.

Advocates say these incidents are not isolated; they reflect a broader crisis that touches families, workplaces, and entire communities.

“Domestic violence is not just a family matter; it is a community crisis that impacts so many people, and it puts everyone at risk, including the first responders we’re asking to intervene, ”said Jennifer Hecker, Executive Director of Options Domestic and Sexual Violence Services.
