New Delhi, Oct 1 (PTI) Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday expressed hope that India and 27-nation bloc European Union (EU) will sign a free trade agreement soon.

The pact is aimed at boosting two-way commerce and investments.

“We will soon, hopefully sign (free trade agreement) with the EU," he said here at the India-EFTA Business Summit.

India and four nation EFTA have announced implementation of a trade pact from October 1.

An Indian official team is visiting Brussels for the trade talks this month. Goyal is also expected to meet EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic in South Africa.

Sefcovic and the European Commission’s Agriculture Commissioner Christophe Hansen were here last month to review the progress of talks with Goyal.
