COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The government shutdown that began on Wednesday is impacting local military bases as Congress sets the terms for the spending bill.

Shaw Air Force Base says several operations will be closed for now, including their civilian personnel office.

Fort Jackson is posting on their Facebook page that their site will have limited updates for the time being.

This marks the first government shutdown since 2018 , which was the longest government shutdown in American history.
