On Tuesday, Teoscar Hernandez was the toast of Dodger Stadium, belting two home runs and leading Los Angeles to a commanding win over the Cincinnati Reds in the Wild Card opener. 24 hours later, he was the target of his own fan base after a routine play in right field turned into a nightmare.

The moment came in the first inning of Game 2 against the Reds. With two outs and Austin Hays lifting a lazy fly ball to right, it looked like a regular catch. Teoscar Hernandez drifted under it, glove ready, only to fumble the catch in shocking fashion. Instead of heading back to the dugout with a clean inning, the Dodgers were suddenly in trouble. Moments later, Cincinnati’s Sal Stewart punched a two-RBI single to left that put the Reds in a 2-0 lead.
