The last time Florida football hosted Texas at The Swamp, Franklin D. Roosevelt was president and fedora hats were in fashion.

The Longhorns shut out the Florida Gators 26-0 on Dec. 7, 1940, at Florida Field, improving to 2-0-1 all-time in its series against UF.

Fast forward close to 85 years, and Florida (1-3, 0-1 SEC) finds itself in desperate need of a win over No. 7 Texas (3-1, 0-0 SEC) on Oct. 4 (3:30 p.m.., ESPN). The Gators have lost three straight, including back-to-back road games at LSU (20-10) and Miami (26-7).

Returning home, where the Gators are 15-7 under head coach Billy Napier, could be the tonic that UF needs to turn its sinking fortunes around.
