The motorway between Scotland and England has been closed due to a road accident. ‌

The M74 is shut at Gretna Green following the one vehicle accident on Thursday morning, with part of the M6 in Cumbria also closed. ‌

Motorists are being advised to take an alternative route, with delays of nearly half an hour possible. ‌

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The A74 (M) is closed north and southbound at the border with Cumbria following a report of a crash involving one vehicle around 6.40am on Thursday, October 2.
