PARMA, Ohio - Journalist Connie Chung told a packed crowd at the Parma-Snow branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library that women’s progress has been set back decades since she and others trailblazed newsrooms.
“It’s very depressing to me because we made a lot of progress,” she said Wednesday evening, adding that she didn’t want to “get political.”
“I do believe we’ve taken an incredible U-turn. It frustrates me,” she said. “It makes me unhappy.”
Her words were in response to a question from an audience member who called today’s political atmosphere “oppressive” for women, pointing to recently announced changes to military standards that will likely disproportionately affect them .
