Amritsar Police bust cross-border arms, heroin network; five held, 12 pistols, 1.5 kg heroin seized

In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Commissionerate Police have dismantled a cross-border arms and narcotics smuggling network with links to Pakistan, arresting five operatives and recovering 12 pistols (.30 bore) and 1.5 kg heroin, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Thursday.

According to the preliminary investigation, accused Joban Singh and Jashanpreet Singh were in direct touch with Pakistan-based smugglers and coordinated consignments via social media. The pushed-in consignments were allegedly meant to fuel inter-gang rivalries in Punjab.
