Sonam Wangchuk's wife, Gitanjali Angmo, criticised the central government on Thursday, she compared the current situation in Ladakh to British India. She said that the Ministry of Home Affairs is misusing the Ladakh Police.
Gitanjali wrote on X, "Is India truly independent? In 1857, 24,000 Britishers, on the orders of the Queen, used 135,000 Indian sepoys to oppress 300 million Indians. Today, on the orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs, a dozen administrators are oppressing 3 lakh Ladakhis by misusing 2400 Ladakhi police personnel."
Sonam Wangchuk was arrested on September 26 after violent protests demanding statehood for Ladakh. He was charged under the stringent National Security Act (NSA) and sent to Jodhpur Central Jail. Four people died
