Raipur, Oct 2: A chilling reminder of the volatile situation in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region emerged on the night of October 1, as Maoist insurgents brutally killed a local villager, accusing him of being a police informer.

The victim, identified as Madkam Bhima, belonged to Pujarikanker village under Usur Police Station in Bijapur district, a region long plagued by extremist violence.

According to police sources, a group of armed Maoists stormed Bhima’s home around 9:00 p.m. Eyewitnesses say the insurgents forcefully dragged him out, accused him of collaborating with security forces, and then attacked him with a sharp weapon in front of fellow villagers. The assault resulted in fatal injuries, leaving the community stunned and fearful.
