CALEXICO — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Calexico East Port of Entry thwarted a significant narcotics smuggling attempt on September 17, 2025, intercepting nearly 186 pounds of cocaine concealed within a car hauler trailer.

The seizure occurred during a routine inspection when the driver of a tractor-trailer, transporting an empty car hauler, entered the commercial facility. After the driver stated he was en route to Pomona, California, to pick up vehicles for transport to Mexicali, Mexico, a CBP officer referred the vehicle for a secondary inspection based on initial observations.
