Two Thunder Bay residents have been charged with offences following the seizure of $1.1 million in illegal drugs from two businesses in the city's north-core area.
Provincial police said a man and a woman in their mid-30s were arrested after officers searched businesses on Cumberland Street North, and Redwood Avenue on Sept. 19.
The arrests came after police began in July looking into "a drug trafficking network allegedly supplying cocaine and other controlled substances in the Thunder Bay area and surrounding communities," an OPP news release said on Wednesday.
During the searches, police seized 10 kilograms of cocaine, 900 oxycodone tablets, 1,500 hydromorphone tablets and 35 grams of psilocybin, also known as magic mushrooms.
Also seized, police said, was a handgun, loaded magazines
