October will be a busy month in Michigan, with fall festivities across the state, a federal holiday and several religious celebrations all just ahead.

Fall typically becomes more pronounced in October across Michigan as cooler temperatures and bright fall foliage set in, and Halloween decorations fill in front yards in preparation for trick-or-treaters.

In addition to the month-ending spooky holiday, Columbus Day, a federal holiday, and Indigenous Peoples' Day both are celebrated on Oct. 13, and Diwali is Oct. 20. There will be several astronomic events, including a supermoon , and more.
