A multi-county police chase that reached speeds over 100 mph led to the arrest of a wanted Claremont man late Tuesday night.

Vaughn Paul Mitchell III, 34, of Claremont, is charged with felony flee to elude, failure to heed blue lights and sirens, aggressive driving, speeding, driving while license revoked, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting a public officer and injury to real property, N.C. State Highway Patrol Trooper Christopher Casey said in a news release.

Casey said Mitchell was also served with three outstanding warrants. According to the Catawba County Who’s in Jail website, Mitchell had three probation violations.
